October 30th, 2010 was a special day at Creekwood
Archery. Many of you in the contest have heard me
say over the years, "I am so blessed to have this
business this time of year, when I get to put my hands
on some real class animals". Well today was extra
special. Checkout the Monster Typical Buck  Cathy
  Turner   harvested 10/30/10 by clicking on her name
below. I believe it will be the largest Typical archery buck
harvested in New York State this year.
Checkout the Monster Non-Typical Buck, I received an
E-Mail about 11/16/10   Buddy  Jacques  harvested
in LaFayette, NY by clicking on his name below. I
believe it will be the largest Non-Typical archery buck
harvested in New York State this year.

Kinda 'makes your day doesn't it ? This little buck
is Rupert.

This tiny deer was delivered by Caesarean section
at a Wildlife hospital after a car killed his mother.

Little Rupert, who is so small he can fit in an adult's
hand, was born after vets failed in their battle to
save his mother.

Rupert at just 6" tall and weighing just over a pound,
he is now in an incubator in the intensive care.

We brought him out and got him breathing, and then
he went into an incubator on oxygen. He is now being
fed by a tube. Asleep: Rupert takes 40 winks.

Rupert pulls a striking pose for the camera. Staff
members are optimistic that Rupert, now 5 days old,
will make a full recovery. "Deer are very, very
tricky, but this one has spirit. He's an extremely
feisty, Little guy and quite pushy".

Ben's comment: This was the strongest first week in the
Creekwood Deer Contest History. As you know it rained
on Thursday and all day Friday and therefore all the bucks
were out and about freshening there scrapes. Nothing else
to do, the doe's weren't ready. We have more adults and
young adults than last year in the contest, but we have
had more entries in past years and to the best of my
knowledge this year was almost double our second best
opening day. The best first day we had before this year was
7 deer and 2 were bucks. This year we had 12 deer and three
were does.
        At the end of two weeks we have 33 deer in the contest
Stay tuned for an update. At the end of our contest we had
41 deer.

In the contest there are 18 winners (9 Young Adult & 9 Adult)
plus $10.00 blind drawing winners plus a new category this
year for out of state deer winning $$ BUCKS FOR BUCKS & DOES $$.
If your not in the contest you get treated the same. We just put you
on the Wood'a-Could'a-Should'a list.

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher,
who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle,
the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.
Eventually the topic got around to Obama being our president.
The old rancher said, 'Well, Ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''.
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a
'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, 'When you're driving
down a country road and you come across a fence post with a
turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.


The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so
he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by
himself, he doesn't belong up there, and he doesn't know what
to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of
dumb ass put him up there to begin with'.
