Now that the contest is over, I have some thoughts
about the 2006 Archery Season. As of today (11/17/06) the
RUT still hasn't happened. I have had no does brought in
that were bread. When a doe has been bread she licks her
hocks clean and as of yet I haven't seen any.
The quality
of the deer taken by Creekwood customers,
is the best of ten years. It is the first time ever that in the
biggest rack part of the contest, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place are all
Pope & Young record book bucks. If Josh Sims's buck hadn't
broken off it's G-3 it would have been a Pope & Young.
There were 40
deer brought in by about 9 less people
in the
contest than last year. Last year we had 31 deer. The
doe take
was light. It was the first time the Young adults (14
to 18) in
the contest only took one doe. All the successful
young adults harvested
bucks. All the deer brought in were
in excellent condition.
