9 Point 130 6/8" POPE & YOUNG BUCK
Boy, have I been waiting for this. I haven't been this excited since Lauren Nowak
brought her buck in last year. It is a great feeling for me, but more than that, it is a
great accomplishment for the Young Adult to dominate both sides of our Deer
Contest Board.
As you can see Darren has a brace on his knee. He tore his ACL playing basketball. (;>{
His dad said, I have no idea how he got up into his treestand. This is the third buck he shot
this year. On buck #1 his Rage Broadhead broke - On Buck #2 which was the same buck
three days later and his Rage Broadhead had no penetration - And Buck #3 is this buck
Darren shot after he switched to a G5 Montec fixed blade broadhead. I told him to save his
Rage Broadheads for hunting turkey because you don't want to shoot thru a turkey so they
can't fly. Darren only saw the buck for 20 seconds or so before he shot it. He said when he
got his range finder out he made some noise, the buck heard it and stopped. He came to
full draw, the arrow was on it's way and the deed was done. He shot this super buck in
Ogden around 6:10. It was a 44 yard shot and the deer went about 150 yards.
Because of his knee, Daren had to call in his sister to help his dad drag this big boy out. As
you can see dad doesn't have his hat on because he is so proud of his son the hat probably
didn't fit. The apple didn't fall very far from the tree for this family. Dad loves to bow hunt
with his PSE's. They have some more pictures they are going to send me so stay tuned.
